Owls Selected to Play on American Sports Network

IRVING, Texas – The American Sports Network (ASN) announced on Thursday that it will televise the Rice women’s basketball home tilt versus North Texas, which will now be played on Sunday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. (CT).

The game, which was originally set for Saturday, Jan. 9, will be the first of five Conference USA regular season showdowns carried by ASN. In addition, ASN will carry all 10 of the C-USA Women’s Championship games played from March 8-10 in Birmingham, Ala.

ASN is an initiative of the Sinclair Networks Group, LLC, which owns and operates programs and provides sales services to 164 television stations in 79 markets, reaching approximately 43 million U.S. television households. It includes FOX, ABC, CBS, MyTV, CW, NBC, Univision and Azteca affiliates. ASN, which launched in August 2014, produced 250 college events in nine sports in its first year and plans to air more than 375 events in the 2015-16 academic year.

The Owls will make at least one other TV appearances in 2015-16, appearing on Fox Sports, Feb. 20 at FIU. In addition, the Owls’ Nov. 13 season opener at Kentucky will be streamed on the SEC Network+ (WatchESPN app).
