WBB Assistant McWilliams-Franklin Resumes WNBA Play

Rice Assistant Taj McWilliams-Franklin has started all 19 games for Minnesota

Rice Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who doubles as a post for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA, returns to the court on Friday, as her Lynx host the Washington Mystics on national television. The Lynx and the Mystics tip off at 7 p.m. on NBA TV.

McWilliams-Franklin has started all 19 games for a Minnesota team that currently leads the WNBA Western Conference with a 15-4 record. She is averaging 8.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game for the Lynx.

The Lynx won the 2011 WNBA title and are looking to become the first team to win titles in consecutive years since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001. McWilliams-Franklin is looking for her third WNBA title, having won with Minnesota in 2011 and with the Detroit Shock in 2008.

Minnesota continues by hosting Tulsa on Aug. 19, then has two games nationally televised on ESPN2 the following week; Aug. 21 at Seattle (9 p.m.) and Aug. 25 at Atlanta (6 p.m.).
