Rice University Athletics and adidas today announced a new multi-year partnership in which the Portland, Ore., based company will continue to be the official athletic footwear, apparel and accessory brand of the Owls through the 2023-2024 season.
“Over the last year, we thoughtfully evaluated who would best meet the needs of our student-athletes in the areas of apparel and footwear. We prioritized investment in our programs as well the willingness to partner with us on unique and innovative initiatives,” said Rice Director of Athletics, Recreation and Lifetime Fitness, Joe Karlgaard. “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with adidas as our student-athletes will see tangible benefits, and I’m confident our fans will equally appreciate the new partnership.”
Rice originally partnered with adidas on all-sport deal in 2013. With the new deal, adidas will supply the Owls with all of their apparel, footwear, headwear and accessory needs for all of Rice’s student-athletes as well as coaching staffs and support personnel. The new apparel lines will become a featured component of the Owls’ retail initiatives at their outlets on the Rice campus in addition to Shop Rice Owls, the department’s new store in Rice Village. adidas will also consult with Rice Athletics on new or alternate uniform concepts.
This weekend, Owl fans can celebrate the new agreement by taking 20% off all adidas gear in the campus store, Shop Rice Owls in Rice Village, and online at shopriceowls.com from April 6th through April 9.
“As the creator sports brand, we will continue to bring our innovation, creativity and collaborative efforts to Rice University Athletics and help them execute their mission to elevate Rice University to a place of broadly recognized excellence and distinction based on the four pillars of athletic competitiveness, academic success, life education and achievement and Rice values,” said, Jim Murphy, director of NCAA Sports Marketing at adidas America. “We look forward to building on our existing partnership with the Owls and providing the sports teams with our newest and most innovative high-performance products over the next six years.”
