Jessica Kuster was named to the All-Conference USA Women's Basketball First Team and All-Defensive team on Sunday, the league announced. Kuster has been selected to the C-USA First Team and All-Defensive Team all three years she has been at Rice.
Kuster is averaging a double-double for the third straight season with 16.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, joining Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe as the only two juniors in Division I to have averaged a double double in three straight seasons. The San Antonio, Texas native posted 14 double doubles this season.
She is the first Owl to be named to three C-USA First Teams, and only the eighth player to make three All-C-USA First Teams in league history. She is the fourth three-time C-USA All-Defensive Team selection in league history, and the first for the Owls.
Kuster leads C-USA in rebounds, blocks and double doubles, and leads Rice in points per game. In three games against the AP Top 25 this season, she averaged 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Kuster set season-highs with 26 points and 19 rebounds at Texas State. She became the quickest Rice player to reach 1,000 career points during this season, reaching the milestone in the second game of her junior year.
Rice takes on No. 6 seed and host Tulsa at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 in the Tulsa Convention Center to kick off the C-USA Championship.
