HOUSTON, Texas – Rice senior forward Jessica Kuster became the first player in Conference USA history to be named to both the All-Conference First Team and All-Defensive Team in four straight seasons, the league office announced on Sunday.
Kuster is having the best season of her illustrious career, averaging 20.8 points and 13.4 rebounds (fifth in the nation) on a nightly basis. The San Antonio, Texas (Reagan HS) native is second in the nation with 25 double-doubles and just became the C-USA leader with 66 career double-doubles.
Kuster became the first player in C-USA history to be named to the All-Defensive Team four times. She is also the first Owl to be named to four C-USA First Teams, and just the third player to make four All-C-USA First Teams in league history, joining Houston’s Chandi Jones (2001-04) and Louisville’s Sara Nord (2001-04).
This season Kuster has become the all-time leader in points, rebounds, made field goals and made free throws. Kuster has also broken the single-season records in total points and rebounds.
Rice takes on No. 13 FIU at 1:30 p.m. (CT) Tuesday, March 11 in the opening round of the C-USA Tournament.
