Owls Play Road Finale at Charlotte Saturday
The Rice Owls (8-18, 3-12) travel to Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday for their final road game of the 2014-15 season. Rice enters the game 13th in C-USA and still just one game back of North Texas (4-11) for the 12th and final qualifying spot in the C-USA Championship tournament. The 49ers (12-15, 8-7) have won two straight and three of their last four games. Charlotte is coming off a convincing 71-46 victory over North Texas on Thursday. The Niners defeated Rice 62-59 at Tudor Fieldhouse earlier this season on Jan. 17, rallying from an 11-point deficit in the second half. Three Owls scored in double-figures in the contest, including a team-best 15 points from Jasmine Goodwine.


 

 

Last Time Out
Rice senior forward Christal Porter notched her 11th double-double of the season but it was not enough to overcome a strong Old Dominion offensive attack in an 83-68 loss at the Ted Constant Convocation Center Thursday morning. Ric shot just 36 percent from the field while the Lady Monarchs (16-10, 9-6) converted from the floor at a 57 percent clip. ODU outscored Rice 54-30 in points in the paint and 18-4 in fast break points. Porter led the Owls with 20 points (9-of-15 shooting) and 14 rebounds.

Charlotte Scouting Report
The Niners are currently in a four-way tie in C-USA for seeds 6-9. Charlotte boasts a 7-6 home record and have won three of their last four at Halton Arena. Charlotte has three players averaging double-figures in scoring, led by sophomore guard Lefty Webster (13.5 ppg). The Niners are the second-best free throw shooting team in the league (.717) and rank third in thrree-point percentage (.320). Senior guard Ayanna Holmes is second in the league in assists (4.6 per game).
