The Rice women's basketball team plays two games on the road this week. The Owls are at Tulane on Thursday (Feb. 16) for a 7 p.m. start. Rice then plays at SMU on Sunday (Feb. 19) at noon. The SMU contest will be televised by FSN.

Rice snapped a two-game skid with a strong 55-48 home win over Tulsa (Feb. 12). Brianna Hypolite tallied 19 points and Nakachi Maduka carded her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Rice won the season's first meeting 67-49 in Houston (Jan. 12). In the contest, Brianna Hypolite led the Owls with a game-high 25 points and Jessica Kuster added 15 points. The Rice defense limited Tulane to just 26.7 percent shooting from the field.
The Green Wave now leads the series 13-12. The two teams won on each other's home court a year ago. Rice won last season in New Orleans, 74-70 in overtime. Morgan Mayse poured in 21 points for the Owls.
Quick Look at Tulane
The Green Wave had its six-game winning streak broken at UTEP in an 80-65 loss. Olivia Grayson leads the team in scoring at 14.3 points a contest. Brett Benzio is second in scoring at 9.6 points a game and first in rebounding (9.3 rebounds a game). Benzio also has 49 blocks to her credit. Danielle Blagg, a freshman, averages 7.9 points per game, to rank third on the squad.
