Owls vs. Blazers
The Owls will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid on Saturday when they face the UAB Blazers at 2 p.m. at Bartow Arena. UAB is in a three-way tie for fourth place in C-USA while the Owls are tied with North Texas for the final C-USA Tournament qualifying spot (12th). Rice and UAB are tied 5-5 in the all-time series with the Owls winning the last two matchups. The Owls defeated the Blazers 61-51 in the final game of the regular season last year in Birmingham.

Last Time Out
Rice senior center Christal Porter earned her fifth consecutive double-double (11 points, 15 rebounds) and sixth in her last seven games but it was not enough to slow down the first place Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in a 79-61 loss Thursday evening at the Murphy Center. The Owls made a big comeback midway through the second half, climbing back from a 22-point deficit at the 18 minute mark to within 64-56 with 4:28 remaining but never got closer. MT got a monster game from senior center Cheyenne Parker, who scored a game-high 29 points, grabbed 14 points and added three blocks, breaking the Blue Raiders single-season blocks record.
