Owls Back on the Road
Following a thrilling double overtime victory at North Texas last Saturday, the Rice Owls continue their three-game road trip on Thursday when they face the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters at 6:30 p.m. Rice earned their first conference road win while the Lady Techsters split their road trip at UTSA (W, 82-72) and UTEP (L, 86-80). LA Tech leads the all-time series against the Owls (10-6), including a 7-1 mark in Ruston.

Last Time Out
For the third time in as many meetings, the Rice Owls women’s basketball team went the extra mile and then some to defeat the North Texas Mean Green, capturing a 79-73 double overtime victory last Saturday at The Super Pit. Just 20 days after besting North Texas in triple overtime back in Houston, Rice swept the season series from the Mean Green on Saturday. The victory marked the first time the Owls had won a game after trailing by 10 or more points since Nov. 11, 2013 vs. TSU, when they erased an 11-point deficit.

LA Tech Scouting Report
The Lady Techsters had their four-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with an 86-80 loss at C-USA leading UTEP. LA Tech ranks second in the league in scoring (70.9 ppg) during league play and is first in defensive field goal percentage (.369). The Lady Techsters have also attempted 199 free throws in eight conference games, the most of any team. Senior guard Brandi Wingate leads the team in scoring (17.3 ppg).

Goodwine Finding Her Groove
Over her last six games junior forward Jasmine Goodwine has raised her game to a new level offensively, averaging 17.7 points on 53 percent shooting while making 24-of-30 (80 percent) attempts from the FT line. Last Saturday Goodwine notched her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 11, both of which tied her career-highs. In addition, Goodwine is averaging a team-best 6.7 rebounds during that stretch.

Long Distance Owls
Through 20 games the Owls have already made (100) and attempted (343) more three-pointers than they did all of 2014-15 (94-of-321). In fact, the 100 three-point makes are most by an Owls team since the 2011-12 campaign (150). Sophomore Wendy Knight ranks 11th in 3-point makes (13) during league play.

Last Saturday the Owls had four players (Goodwine-25, Rainey- 16, Hawkins- 13, Knight- 13) score 10 or more points in a game for the first time since March 7, 2015.

Overtime is Owls Time
Rice improved to 3-1 in overtime competition this season with their 79-73 double-OT victory at North Texas last Saturday. The four OT contests are the most played by the Owls in a single-season in school history and it marked the first time they’ve ever played the same opponent in OT twice in one season.

What’s On Deck
The Owls close out their three-game road swing with a trip to Southern Miss on Saturday (4 p.m.). Rice will then return home to face Charlotte (Feb. 11) and Old Dominion (Feb. 13).
