(Eurobasket Data Center) - Tarsus Belediyesi (TKBL) agreed terms with 28-year old Ukrainian ex-international center and former Rice Owl, Valeriya Berezhynska on Sunday.
Berezhynska played at Rice from 2004-08 and is 12th on the all-time scoring list with 1,076 points. She was named to the 2008 All-Conference USA Second Team her senior season when she averaged 17 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
She played last season at CCC Polkowice in Polish BLK league, but left the team in January of 2013. In 13 games she had 8.8ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.5spg. Berezhynska also played 8 games in Euroleague where she recorded 8.9ppg and 4.3rpg.
In 2008 she was drafted by the Detroit Shock (WNBA) in the third round (42nd overall). The list of the past achievements is quite long as her team made it to the French LFB Semifinals in 2010. Berezhynska was also voted Eurobasket.com All-French LFB Bosman Player of the Year back in 2010. She was a member of Ukrainian Senior National Team between 2009 and 2010.
Berezhynska has played previously professionally in the WNBA (Tulsa Shock, Sacramento Monarcha and San Antonio Silver Stars) and France (Mondeville, Charleville-Mezieres and Reims).
