Owls Begin East Coast Trip at Old Dominion
Rice returns to the road this week for a pair of contests on the east coast, beginning with a rematch against Old Dominion on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT). The Owls dropped their first meeting with the Lady Monarchs (59-47) back on Dec. 30 in the C-USA opener in Houston. Rice is 5-4 on the road this season and 1-2 on the road during league play. Old Dominion leads the all-time series against Rice, 6-1.

Last Time Out
Five Owls scored in double-figures for the second time this season as Rice secure a 76-68 bounce-back victory over Southern Miss last Saturday afternoon at Tudor Fieldhouse. After suffering a heartbreaking 70-67 overtime loss at home to Louisiana Tech, Rice unloaded their best shooting performance of the Conference USA season, hitting a C-USA season-high 56 percent from the field and a sensational 53 percent (10-of-19) from three-point territory. The Owls also dished out a C-USA season-high 21 assists, led by seven assists from senior point guard Maya Hawkins.  

Old Dominion Scouting Report
The Lady Monarchs have dropped three of their last four games overall, including an 86-75 loss to C-USA-leading Charlotte last Saturday. Senior guard Jennie Simms is second in the nation in scoring (24.8 ppg) and third in the country in made free throws (113). The Maryland native leads all of C-USA in field goal attempts, field goals made, total points, points per game and free throws made. ODU is 6-2 at home this season. In the first meeting this season, ODU limited Rice to a season-low 28 percent shooting from the field while Simms led the way for the Lady Monarchs with 26 points.

Goodwine Moving Up the Rice Scoring Chart
Rice senior forward Jasmine Goodwine (1,061 career points) is now just 12 points shy of moving past Brenda Conaway (1,072 points) for 13th place on the Rice all-time scoring list. Goodwine is averaging a team-best 14.1 ppg during C-USA play while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. Over the last seven games Goodwine leads the Owls in scoring, rebounding (5.4 rpg) and minutes played (36.7).

After outrebounding Southern Miss 32-25 last Saturday, the Owls improved to 9-1 this season when they collect more rebounds than their opponents. On the flipside the Owls are just 2-6 when they get outrebounded.

Iademarco Makes First Rice Start
Redshirt sophomore Nicole Iademarco made her first career start for the Owls on Saturday, scoring 10 points while dishing out four assists in 33 minutes. The Woodlands, Texas native was one of five Owls who scored in double-figures in the victory.

What’s Next
Rice travels to Charlotte on Saturday for the team’s second meeting of the season against the 49ers, which will be streamed on ESPN3 at 6 p.m. (CT).
