Rice returns home from a six-day Florida road trip to host Louisiana Tech on Wednesday in the C-USA home opener. The Owls had their season-high three-game win streak snapped last time out at FAU, allowing a season-high 97 points and 14 made three-pointers. The Lady Techsters have dropped their first two league games, including a 68-51 loss last time out against Middle Tennessee.
Series History vs. Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series against Rice 9-4, including two straight wins in the series. Rice has won three of the five games played in Houston although this will be the Lady Techsters first-ever appearance at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Kuster Eyes Rebounding Record
With nine more rebounds against FAU, senior forward Jessica Kuster crept ever closer to the Rice career rebounding record held by Lauren Neaves (1,190). Kuster enters play Wednesday with 1,179 rebounds, the fourth-most amongst all active NCAA Division I players . Kuster is ranked third in NCAA Division I in total rebounds this season (203) and fifth in rebounds per game (13.5).
Hawkins Provides Boost In First Start
Freshman point guard Maya Hawkins notched career-highs in points (6), assists (4), steals (3) and three-point makes (2) in her first-career start for the Owls last time out at FAU. The Mansfield, Texas native also played a season-high 37 minutes.
Numbers to Know
Rice’s is 8-2 this season when holding opponents to 69 points or less and 8-1 when their opponents shoot below 39 percent. The Owls also own a 7-2 record when they outrebound their opponent.
