HOUSTON – Rice women’s basketball signees Arianna McCurry (Roseville, Calif., Roseville HS) and Jasmine Smith (Houston, Kinkaid HS) were both named McDonald’s All-American Game nominees, the organization announced on Wednesday (Jan. 10).
McCurry entered her senior season as a two-time all-conference honoree and rated a Premier Basketball Report four-star center. Through 13 games, McCurry is averaging 12.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game during her senior campaign.
Smith earned All-SPC and All-South Zone honors as a junior while helping lead the Kinkaid Falcons to a Southwest Preparatory Conference title. An espnW top 100 ranked player, Smith is averaging 17.9 points, 6.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
The final roster for the McDonald’s All-American Game will be announced on Jan. 16 while the 17th annual game will precede the boy’s contest on March 28 at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Ga. and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
