PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Rice junior Nicole Iademarco scored a game-high 26 points while redshirt sophomore teammate Erica Ogwumike added 21 points to help lead the Owls to an 88-68 victory at Prairie View A&M Thursday afternoon at the William J. Nicks Building.
Rice (9-2) won their fourth straight game by tying a season-high in points and a 56 percent clip shooting from the field in their final non-conference road game of the year.
Iademarco and Ogwumike scored 20-plus points for a second straight game and combined to make 16-of-28 shots from the field. Iademarco continued her streak of making a three-pointer in every game this season, making 4-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc. Ogwumike also collected 10 rebounds for her team-leading third double-double of the season.
Senior Wendy Knight also scored in double-figures for the Owls with 12 points, her fourth such performance in her last five games.
Rice scored a season-high 42 points in the paint and outscored Prairie View 15-4 in second chance points.
The Owls turned the game around with a 30-point third quarter, making 11-of-14 shots from the field while limiting the Panthers to just nine points.
Rice will now have eight days off before returning home to host Columbia on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m.
