Women's Basketball Extends Winning Streak To Three With Win Over SFA

HOUSTON, Texas- Rice extended its winning streak to three games as it beat Stephen F. Austin 60-41 at Tudor Fieldhouse on Saturday. Jessica Kuster and Megan Palmer co-led the Owls with 20 points.

The Owls (5-4) Started 0-of-9 from the field, but made six of their next 11 shots to start a 22-4 run that gave the Owls a 26-8 lead over Stephen F. Austin (4-5). Rice held on to that lead to take a 33-22 advantage into the break.

Rice never let the Ladyjacks within 10 in the second half, as the Owls went on a 6-1 run after intermission and did not look back to win by 19.

Rice is now 4-1 at Tudor Fieldhouse this season, with the only loss at home coming to No. 3 Baylor. The Owls are 31-15 at home since 2009-10.

Megan Palmer had the second 20+ point outing of her career. The Freshman from Hanszen College scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, had three assists and had four blocks, the first four blocks of her career.

Jessica Kuster had her fourth consecutive double-double, posting 20 points and 14 rebounds and tied a season-high with four assists.

The Owls return to action on Dec. 20, as they host future C-USA rival UTSA at 7 p.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse. Tickets are available here.
