College Station, Texas - The Rice Owls women's basketball team dropped an 86 to 50 decision against the No. 8 Texas A&M Aggies at Reed Arena in front of 3,834 fans. Rice is now 0-2 on the season, while A&M improves to 2-0.
The Owls played it close to the vest in the early going and were only behind 11 to 8 before the Aggies closed out the half on a 36 to 14 run. Texas A&M shot 56 percent from the field and scored 16 points off of 14 Rice turnovers in the first 20 minutes. Rice made 33.3 percent from the field in the first-half and 36 percent for the game.
For the game Rice committed 29 turnovers to Texas A&M's 11.
Jessica Goswitz was the only Owl to score in double-digits with 10 points in 35 minutes of action. Jackie Stanley added 6 points for the Owls.
Danielle Adams led all scorers with 15 points for the Aggies and Tanisha Smith added 14.
Rice now plays at Stephen F. Austin State this Saturday in Nacogdoches, Texas, at 4:30 p.m.
