COOKEVILLE, Tenn.- Rice had three players in double figures, but it was not enough as the Owls fell 78-65 to Tennessee Tech in a women's basketball game at the Eblen Center. Jessica Kuster led the Owls with 22 points.
Rice shot a season-high 40.6% from the floor.
Rice built up a 20-17 lead during the first half, but trailed 30-26 going into the break. The Owls never led during the second half.
The Owls are 1-2 on the season, while the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech improve to 2-1. This was the second game of a two-game road stretch in Tennessee for the Owls.
Kuster posted 20+ points for the second time in three games this season, and added six rebounds and two steals. Kuster went 10-of-18 from the field.
Megan Palmer posted her second-straight double-digit scoring game, with a season-and-career-high of 17.
Jessica Goswitz, playing 90 minutes away from her hometown of Knoxville, scored 12 points and dished out five assists.
The Owls play at Texas State on November 20th at 7 p.m. Rice's next home game is on November 27th as Rice hosts Brittney Griner and No. 1 Baylor.
