Rice Head Coach Greg Williams
Opening Statement:
"We had one player with three offensive rebounds at halftime and had only five offensive rebounds in the game, so that was a good job by Tulsa by outrebounding us. Their seniors combined for 45 pts, they stepped up and played extremely well. The seniors were 16 from 29 from the field plus the team had a phenomenal night at the line, they were 22-of-25 overall and 20-of-22 in the second half. We came out in the second half, but I thought we played pretty poorly in the first half. We came out in the game missing two wide-open layups, which really set a tone. We were struggling, but then Megan Shafer came off the bench and hit three three's and kind of sparked us a little bit, and then we went into halftime down two. I didn't think we played that well, but we came out and took an early lead in the second half, thought `hey this is going to be a ballgame', and then they just took over and just dominated the game from that point on."

On the Tulsa run in the second half when Rice was up by 4, what was it that switched for them:
"I think it was about how physical they were in the paint and they were rebounding. We missed shots and we weren't getting the offensive rebounds. They were dominating in the paint and we started fouling and they had the double bonus. First half we only committed three fouls and then committed 17 in the second, some of those were late, but still they had a little more pep in their step in the second half and we were just lethargic. We didn't execute, we busted a lot of plays and they took advantage of it. We've been struggling guarding Mayberry all year and she had a great game time with 24 points on 12 shots and really led their basketball team."

"We came into the game as the only 11th seed in the country that won four out of the last five games so we thought we were playing well and we were playing well. Unfortunately it didn't carry over into the tournament. We wish Tulsa a good run in the tournament."

On moving forward and what to expect for next season:
"I think for myself, I just have a lot of little things that I want to work because I can do a lot of different things well and I want to get my confidence up. And then for my team, everyone is just so young and it's good that we're going to have a little bit more experience for next year. We still have a lot of freshmen coming in next year, so I just hope that our team all around gets more confidence and just feels like they belong in Division I basketball next year because they are good players and we have people that can shoot. We just need them to be more confident."
