As the Rice Owls begin their 10th season as members of Conference USA, we take a look back notable firsts.
As a Junior (2005-06) -- Selected to all-Conference USA third team after averaging 16.8 points and 3.2 assists in six league games... Team leader in scoring before falling victim to an Achilles tendon injury at SMU on Jan. 22... Averaged 13.4 points in 17 starts, and matched her career-high with 25 vs. Southern Miss... Topped 20-points four times... Dished out 2.6 assists a game and nabbed 2.2 steals... Shot 71.7 percent from the free throw line... Tied career best with six assists vs. Louisiana Tech, and twice had five steals in a game.
As a Sophomore (2004-05) -- Named to the WAC all-defensive team after leading the Owls with 61 steals... Started 27 of the 33 games she played in, averaging 11.4 points and 3.4 boards... Earned WAC all-tournament recognition, scoring a career-high 25 points in a first-round win over Nevada... Scored in double digits in 19 games, including 13 WAC contests... Averaged 13 points and 4.2 rebounds in WAC games.
As a Freshman (2003-04) -- Started in 11 games as a true freshman, seeing action in 30 games... Led the Owls with a career-high 14 points at Nevada... Connected on five-of-five from the field, including a perfect four-of-four from long range against the Wolf Pack... Averaged 3.4 points per game... Grabbed a career-best four rebounds at home against Baylor... Dished out three assists five different times... Finished the season with a 1.2 assists per game mark.
High School -- 2003 graduate of North Shore High School... A four-year starter and letterwinner for coach Allison Campbell and the Mustangs... Named to the all-district first team all four years... Honored in 2003 as a member of the all-greater Houston preseason basketball team and a McDonald's all-America nominee... Competed in the 2003 McDonald's greater-Houston all-star game... Was a 2003 greater-Houston scholar athlete... Selected as her team's most valuable player as a senior and defensive player of the year her final two seasons... Shot 56 percent from the floor and 77 percent from the charity stripe her senior season to go along with averages of 15.7 points, 4.4 assists, 5.2 steals, and 3.4 rebounds per game... Led the Mustangs to the area playoffs in 2003 and the district crown in both 2002 and 2003... Also a member of North Shore's cheerleading squad, serving as head cheerleader in 2000-01 and helping the squad earn bids to the National Cheerleaders Association national competition three consecutive years... Named an NCA all-America all four years... Graduated cum laude with a 3.97 grade point average and was a member of the National Honor Society.
