Brook Brashear is in her first year (2016) as Director of Operations after spending the past year as a graduate assistant for the University of Texas women's basketball team.
"Brook comes to our program after having spent her undergraduate and graduate years working for and learning from Karen Aston at the University of Texas," Rice women's basketball head coach Tina Langley said. "Coach Aston is known for her passion and dedication to the game. She is one of the best coaches in our profession, and has worked tirelessly to return Texas into a national power. Brook was able to be a part of that resurgence, and has learned what it takes to build an elite program. Brook's work ethic, discipline, and character are impeccable. She is a tremendous addition to our team, and will be a wonderful mentor to the young women in our program."
During her time with the Longhorns, Brashear enforced and coordinated all game day operations for student managers while aiding in the arrangement of game day equipment for road trips. Other duties included coordinating day-to-day operations for the basketball managers, assisting in recruiting visits of potential signees, tracking inventory, and assisting the director of operations with travel arrangements and itineraries.
Prior to her era in Austin, Brashear was a volunteer for the Texas A&M men's basketball squad in 2014, assisting the director of operations.
Brashear was also a student manager herself at the University of Texas (2012-14) while attending school. She graduated from Texas in August of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Sports Management minor) and is expected to receive her Masters of Science in Kinesiology (Texas) in 2016.
