Rice fans will make the final call when members of the local media compete for the first annual Caray Cup by singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch at selected Owls games in May.

The competition will kick off on Wednesday, May 2 when KHOU's Dan Gotera will step on top of the Owls dugout to lead the traditional baseball song. He will be followed by SportsRadio 610's Josh Innes on May 4 and 1560 The Game's Sean Pedergast on May 5..

Each performance will be recorded and posted on the Rice Athletics YouTube page. Once the performance schedule concludes, Rice Athletics will post the videos on the Rice Owls Athletics Facebook page for fan voting. The performer with the most "likes" during the voting period will be crowned the 2012 Caray Cup champion.

The champion will be presented the first annual Caray Cup trophy after he throws out the ceremonial pitch before the Owls take on UAB set for Saturday, May 12 at Reckling Park. Then, during the 7th inning, the champion will sing his winning rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

Along with the winner, one lucky voter of the winning performance will win four tickets to a suite at Reckling to enjoy the game with the Caray Cup winner.

Voting will take place on the Rice Owls Athletics Facebook page from Monday, May 7 through Thursday, May 10. Winner will be announced on Friday, May 11
