Rice cross country hosts the 37th Annual Justin F. Cooper Memorial Rice Invitational Meet on Friday at the Rice Intramural Fields. The women's race starts at 6:15 p.m. and the men's race starts at 6:45 p.m.

"This is one of the best meets in the South Central Region other than the regional meet itself," said Rice Men's Cross Country/Track Head Coach Jon Warren. "We are excited to bring a competition of this quality to the Rice campus."

The men's race features seven of the top 10 teams in the region and eight of the top 15 teams in the region. The men's field is headlined by No. 14 Texas A&M, who ranks second in the South Central Region. The Owls rank fourth in the region, and are joined by other regionally ranked squads, including fourth-ranked Lamar, sixth-ranked Texas A&M Corpus Christi, seventh-ranked McNeese State, ninth-ranked Stephen F. Austin, tenth-ranked Houston and 15th-ranked Houston Baptist.

Division III Trinity (Texas), ranks sixth among DIII teams in the region. Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Southern and Texas State round out the university field. Adidas Team Green is participating as a club team.

The women's race features six of the top 15 teams in the region. The Owl women are ranked eighth in the South Central Region, and are joined by third-ranked Texas A&M, ninth-ranked Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 10th-ranked Stephen F. Austin, 11th-ranked Sam Houston State, and 12th-ranked Lamar.

Trinity's women rank third among DIII teams in the region. Houston, Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Southern and Texas State round out the university field. Adidas Team Green is participating as a club team.

Parking is free and located in West Lot 4. Admission is free.
