Cuadra, Ramljak, Tawlar Named C-USA Scholar-Athletes For 2012-13
Athletes Honored As Tops In Their Sport

Gabe Cuadra, Austin Ramljak, and Kylee Talwar were named Conference USA Scholar-Athlete award winners for the 2012-13 school year, marking them as the top Scholar-Athlete in men's cross country, men's basketball and women's swimming, respectively.
Cuadra was selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team for both cross country and track & field this season, marking his fourth straight year on the cross country All-Academic squad, and third straight year for track & field,
During the cross country season, he earned All-Region and Second Team All-C-USA Honors, and was the Owls' fastest runner at the conference and regional meets. He followed up those performances with a fifth place finish at the C-USA Championship in the 10,000 m race, and an appearance at the NCAA Championships in the same event.
Ramljak was a newcomer for the Owls' basketball squad as a junior last season. The guard started 17 games and averaged 9.0 points per contest. His 72 three-pointers ranked seventh on the program's single-season list, while his 37.3 percent accuracy from long range led the team as well.
Academically, Ramljak was one of two Owls named to the 2013 Conference USA All-Academic Team and also earned a place on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. He is majoring in psychology.
Talwar won the 200-individual medley at the Conference USA swimming & diving championships, setting a new Rice school record in the process. Talwar blazed to a new school record 2:00.13 to win the C-USA individual championship, the first C-USA event title for Talwar, who was named the program's most-improved swimmer this season.
A decorated student, Talwar is a two-time C-USA Honor Roll recipient and Rice University Honor Athlete.
