COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Rice men’s cross country placed seventh at the NCAA South Central Regional Friday morning in College Station at the Watts Cross Country Course.
The Owls placed three runners in the top 50, led by freshman Hociel Landa’s 30th place finish (31:14) in the 10k race. Adolfo Carvalho (44th-31:31) and Marco Ruiz (47th-31:35) followed Landa as the Owls second and third runners.
Other Owls earning points were Clay Musial (54th-31:47), Imran Bell (31:51), Alex Topini (96th-32:30) and Matt Calem (114th-32:51).
“To place seventh two years in a row at these championships is a good showing,” Rice head coach Jon Warren said. “This group is a true team with a spread of only 37 seconds over 10k. There were a lot of good teams here so I’m really proud of today’s performance.”
Arkansas (59 points) won the team title, followed by Texas (73 points) and Texas A&M (98 points).
