Owls Finish Sixth At Crimson Classic
Firth places 10th, Cavallo 12th in final tuneup race before C-USA Championship

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Junior William Firth and senior John Cavallo each posted Top-20 finishes at the 23-team Crimson Classic Friday afternoon to help lead the Owls to a sixth place finish at the Harry Pritchett Course.
Firth finished in 10th place, completing the 8033 Meter Run in a time of 25:03.03 to earn the Owls nine points. Cavallo placed 12th with a mark of 25:04.72 for 11 points.
The Owls totaled 155 points, finishing behind Belmont (5th-128), Miss. State (4th-110), Stephen F. Austin (3rd-105), UT-Arlington (2nd-85) and champion Auburn (45 points).
Rice freshman Harry Sagel also completed a Top-25 finish by running a 25:25.85, backing up a strong performance last time out at the Rim Rock Run in Kansas. Freshman Adam Davidson (47th), Travis Roberts (71st), Meron Fessahie (79th) and Aneesh Sampeth (91st) rounded out the Owls finishers on Friday.
The Owls were one of 23-teams, which included a field of Alabama (host), Alabama State, Auburn, Belmont, Florida A&M, Florida State, Houston, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Loyola-New Orleans, LSU, Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Samford, South Alabama, South Florida, Stillman, UT-Arlington, Troy and Vanderbilt.
The meet was the final competition for the Owls before the C-USA Championship on Nov. 2 in Denton, Texas.
