LAWRENCE, Kan.- Rice finished 5th at the Kansas Rim Rock Invitational in on Saturday. Gabe Cuadra led the way in the 8k race with a 14th place finish.
Rice, the fifth-ranked team in the South Central Region, finished behind four regionally-ranked teams, including Indiana, who is ranked 11th in the nation. Host institution and champion Kansas is ranked seventh in the Midwest Region, Air Force and Texas Tech are ranked 6th and 14th respectively in the Mountain Region. The Owls finished ahead of New Mexico State, ranked 13th in the Mountain Region.
Cuadra finished 14th with a time of 24:18 in what was his first meet of the year. He was followed by John Cavallo who finished in 24:24 in 18th place.
Will Firth finished with a 24:43 in 27th place. James Llamas also finished under 25 minutes, with a time of 24:57 in 37th place.
Meron Fessahaie finished in 25:15 in 53rd place. Travis Roberts posted a 25:33 and Wyatt Doop posted a 25:53.
