Texas A&M Invitational Men's Results
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Competing in their second meet of the season, the Rice Owls men's cross country team finished third overall at Saturday's Texas A&M Invitational 8k race at the Watts XC Course.
The Owls were led by freshman Hociel Landa, who placed 15th individually in a time of 24:25, while juniior Matt Calem placed 20th with a mark of 24:42.
Other Owls to score points were junior Imran Bell (25th-24:47), junior Clay Musial (34th-24:55), sophomore Adolfo Carvalho (35th-24:56), freshman Alex Topini (60th-25:28) and senior Marco Ruiz (67th-25:39).
"On what was quite a warm day, these guys did really well," Rice head coach Jon Warren said. "Led by Hociel, the top five continued what they started at the Rice Invite by having another tight pack. The spread was only 30 seconds. Matt and Imran ran excellent races. Clay continues to impress and Adolfo looked great as well. The team showed a lot of depth by being able to fill in when others were a bit off today. This was an excellent team effort and a good result for this early in the season."
