Rice men's track and field athletes Philip Adam and Alex Hsu were named to the 2010 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
Adam, in the decathlon represented Rice at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championship and placed 10th in the decathlon to earned All-America status by the USTFCCCA. Hsu, in the pole vault, competed for the Owls at the NCAA West Region.
A record total of 357 student-athletes representing 118 institutions compose the group. Stanford led all squads with 12 earning All-Academic status. Minnesota and BYU followed with 10 mentions. The Pac-10 led the conference order with 45 with the Big Ten coming next at 37.
