Five Rice Men's Track & Field Athletes Named C-USA All-Academic

A league-high five Rice Unversity men's track and field athletes have been selected to the 2011 Conference USA Track & Field All-Academic after a vote by the league's sports information contacts for the sport. The list consists of student-athletes who hold a minimum 3.2 GPA and have used a year of eligibility for the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Earning a place on the C-USA All-Academic for the Rice were Philip Adam, Will Meyers, Matt Carey, Dan Sloat, and Alex Zinchenko. For Adam and Meyers it marks the third time on the All-Academic Team.

Adam graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude with a degree in both economics and policy studies and a minor in business. While working toward a 3.96 GPA, he became the first three-time decathlon champion in C-USA history as he claimed his third title at the 2011 C-USA Championships. Adam was the 2011 Bob Quin Award winner for the most outstanding male athlete at Rice.
 Meyers also graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 mark and mathematical economic analysis degree. He also minored in business during his academic career and was a five-time member of the Rice University President's Honor Roll. At the C-USA Championships, he collected a top-10 finish in the hammer throw. Sloat earns his second such accolade, while Carey and Zinchenko make their first appearance.
