Rice University hosts the 2011 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship Thursday, May 12 to Sunday, May 15. Action takes place at Holloway Field and Ley Track on the Rice campus.

"Hosting a championship at home is both an honor, an advantage and a challenge all rolled into one meet," states Rice men's head coach Jon Warren. "The best part of Rice hosting the meet is that we were able to put together a schedule that allows virtually all the events, running and field, to be conducted in a short time period. It should be a five-ring circus out there with great competition going on the entire time."

The heptathlon starts at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the decathlon starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday features the men's and women's hammer throw, the 10,000m run (women at 8:00 p.m. followed by the men at 8:45), and the final events for the heptathlon and decathlon.

Saturday's running events start at 6 p.m. and are all pre-lims, except for the 3000m steeplechase. On Sunday, running finals start at 6 p.m. with the 4x100m relay, which is followed by the 1500m.

Live video streaming will be available on Saturday and Sunday for free on all 12 member institutions' All-Access players as well as the C-USA All-Access player on Saturday by 5 p.m. and Sunday starting at 4 p.m.

"We have a brand new blue Beynon track, our Gulf Coast Officials Association is one of the best, if not the best officials association in the country and our weather looks to be perfect for the meet," says Rice head women's coach Jim Bevan. "Our primary viewing time for the meet (Saturday and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9) is great for everyone to watch excellent track and field competition. Our conference has some of the best track and field athletes in the country and we invite everyone out to support us and watch a great competition."

Tickets
An all-sessions ticket is available for $25.00 for adult and $15.00 for youth (17 and under) that is good for all four days of the championship. Single day tickets are $12.00 for adult and $7.00 for youth. All persons age three and over must have a ticket for admission. Also, current students from each of the 12 schools in Conference USA will be admitted for free with valid school identification.
