Rice's men's track and field squad hosts the 10th annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet this Saturday, April 20 at Holloway Track/Ley Field. The event features 450 male and female athletes from 12 schools.
The Owls look to post strong performances, trying to qualify athletes for the NCAA Meet, while also preparing for the C-USA Championships, hosted by Rice on May 9-12.
Rice is expecting strong performances out of several athletes, including pole vaulter Chris Pillow, who ranks 12th in the nation, and has cleared 17 feet in eight of his last 10 meets. Nick Williams, who has set the school record in the hammer throw on three separate occasions this season, looks to post an NCAA-qualifying score.
Clayton Chaney, who has the eighth best decathlon score in the nation, is slated to participate in several different events.
The A-section finals start at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
