Adam Scores Season-High in Decathlon

Azusa, Calif. - Rice senior decathlete Philip Adam placed seventh at the CA Invitational/Mt. SAC Relays decathlon held on the campus of Azusa Pacific at its Cougar Athletic Stadium. Competing in #1 of three decathlons, Adam tallied a season-high 7,327 points which concluded late Thursday evening. His previous season-best was 6,625 points at Rice's Shirley Crowe Multi-Events.

Adam, from Santa Maria, Calif., ran a season-fast 11.13 in the 100m, season-best in the shot put (14.02m/46-0), season-fast 15.22 in the 110m hurdles, had a season-best mark in the discus (41.00m/134-6), and season-best time in the 1500m at 4:35.15. Adam's point total is also the second-highest in C-USA for 2011.

Competing in the #3 decathlon, Owl freshman Ben Pressley placed fifth with 6,103 points, while another freshman, Justin Gross was seventh with 5,353 points, and senior Pete Navarra scored 5,289 points for eighth place.
