HOUSTON, Texas – The Rice Owls men’s track and field team officially kicks off the 2014 outdoor campaign Wednesday afternoon, the first of two days of the Shirley Crowe Decathlon/Heptathlon Meet.
Competition gets going at 3 p.m. Wednesday in a meet that will feature Harvard, Rice, UT Arlington and Wichita State.
Rice will be represented on the men’s side by freshman Scott Filip and junior Ben Pressley. Filip has bursted onto the scene in his first collegiate season, winning the C-USA Indoor Championships heptathlon with 5314 points. Pressley was nearly just as impressive in that same meet, placing second overall with 5000 points.
The final day of the Shirley Crowe will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday before the Owls compete in the TSU Relays this weekend.
