Pillow Named C-USA Co-Field Performer of the Meet
March 6, 2015
IRVING, Texas - Rice senior pole vaulter Chris Pillow was named the Conference USA Male Co-Field Performer of the Meet, the league announced on Friday.
The athletes were chosen in voting done by C-USA track and field coaches earlier this week, based on their performances at the C-USA Indoor Championships. Pillow is the first male Owl athlete to earn C-USA Indoor Performances of the Meet honors since 2007.
Pillow, from Mechanicsville, Virginia, won his second consecutive C-USA pole vault title with a winning vault of 5.37m. The victory was Pillow's fourth of the indoor season. He shared the Field Performer of the Meet with Charlotte's Trae McCrae, who won the high jump, finished third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.
Just two days later Pillow competed at the USATF Indoor Championships and placed second overall and moved to fourth in the nation with a vault of 5.60m (18-4.5). He will be competing next Friday, March 13 at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
