Rice Men's Track & Field Competes at Leonard Hilton Invitational

Leonard Hilton Invitational Full Results

Houston - The Rice men's track and field team turned in some nice performances at its first indoor competition for the 2011 season at the University of Houston's Leonard Hilton Invitational held at Yeoman Fieldhouse. The Owls did not a full squad in the scored competition.

Freshman Justin Gross placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.16m/23-6 in his first collegiate competition. He also was seventh in the triple jump (13.84m/45-5).

In the long jump "B" flight competition, senior Ugo Nduaguba placed second with a mark of 6.71m/22-0.25. Multi-event athlete Clayton Chaney placed seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 4.14m/13-7.25.

Nick Williams placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 13.23m/43-5, while Alex Zinchenko placed third in the shot put (16.16m/53-0.25).

The Owls are next in action at the Houston Indoor Invitational on Jan. 28-29.
