Austin - Senior hurdler Collin Shurbet just missed on advancing in the 400m hurdles at the 2012 NCAA West Preliminary Round held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.
Shurbet, from San Antonio and Smithson Valley H.S., posted a time of 52.72 and did not advance to Friday's quarter-final action. The top 27 times advanced and 52.55 was the last accepted time. The top 12 in each event advance to the NCAA Championship held in Des Moines, Iowa.
"Collin (Shurbet) ran really well," commented Owl head coach Jon Warren. "He came in ranked about 40th and finished in the top 30. He missed out on the final by .18. It was a great year for Collin and he finished on a high note."
