Rice Places Third at Conference USA Outdoor Championship

Final Results

El Paso, Texas -- At the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship the Rice Owls placed third with 118.5 points. UTEP was first with 171, while Houston finished second with 154.5 points.

Sophomore Jason Colwick set meet record in winning the pole vault at 5.31m/17-5. The previous mark was held by South Florida's Jonathan Miller 5.30m/17-4.5.

Also Shea Kearney placed third (4.75m/15-7) and Tyler Whitham was fourth at 4.60m/15-1.

In the triple jump, Ugo Nduaguba was second at (15.74m/51-7.75) and placing fourth was Devon Fanfair (15.02m/49-03.50).

The 4x100m relay squad of Jon Turner, Bubba Heard, John Welch, and Gary Anderson placed second at 41.42.

Anderson also finished fifth the 110m hurdles with a time 14.79.

Omar Wright finished second in the high at 2.10m/6-10.75. UTEP's Michael Hanay tied his meet record by clearing 2.30m/7-06.50.

Jon Turner placed fourth in the 100m with a time of 10.71 as did Jacob Owolabi in the 800m (1:56.18). Matthew Hoffman was seventh in the 800m (2:02.64). Turner also placed seventh in the 200m (21.94)

Clay Baker placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 46.49m/152-06. Placing eighth in the 5000m, was Michael Trejo at 15:19.26.
