Chris Pillow won the C-USA Championship in the pole vault, clearing 17' 3.75" to help the Owls' men's track team finish sixth at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
"We had outstanding performances from the individuals who were here, who are a wonderful group of people, who laid it all on the line," said Rice head coach Jon Warren. "It was the end of a pretty good year for each individual that we have."
Pillow cleared the bar at 17-3.75 on his second attempt, giving him his first C-USA title after missing out in a jump-off in the indoor season. He has now won the pole vault in five consecutive meets.
Alex Zinchenko threw 54' 8.75" to finish fourth in the shot put. It was his second top 4 finish of the meet.
Evan Karakolis finished sixth with a throw of 197' 4" in the javelin, in his first competitive throws since March.
Harry Sagel ran a 1:52.49, less than a second behind the winner, but takes home sixth in the 800 m run.
