HOUSTON - Austin Riddle and Charlie Card-Childers each recorded victories Friday afternoon to highlight the Owls' performance at the Tom Tellez Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston at Tom Tellez Track.
Riddle won his fourth hammer throw competition of the season with a winning mark of 65.12m (213-8.00) while Card-Childers set a new PR in the javelin with a distance of 58.11m (190-8.00).
The Owls also got solid performances in the hammer throw from Uche Ugwunze (3rd/60.78m) and Michael Yow (5th/58.65m) and a PR fourth place finish from Emerson Schulz in the javelin (51.04m).
Senior Filip Drozdowski finished second among collegiate performers in the 110m hurdles, setting a season-best time of 14.28. The Owls also got a PR (48.24) from Colton Torrance in the 400m, placing fourth collegiately.
Rice will have a handful of runners competing on Saturday in California at the Oxy Invitational.
