Bearkat Twilight Results Get Acrobat Reader

Huntsville, Texas - The Rice men's track and field team posted excellent results, after a week of final exams, at Sam Houston State's Bearkat Twilight Thursday evening.

Distance runner Travis Roberts was impressive in placing third in the 1500m with a season-best time of 3:55.02. Mike Troop was fifth in the 800m also with a season-best time of 1:56.38.

Nick Williams was sixth in the hammer throw as he broke his own school record with a mark of 49.67m/162-11. His previous record was 49.63m/162-10.

In the 5000m Anthony Lauriello finished fourth with a time 16:41.68. Max Grossman, in the 400m hurdles, placed fourth with a time of 1:00.56.

"We took about half the team to Huntsville today as a pre-conference tune up," commented Owl head coach Jon Warren. "The other half competes on Friday at the Arkansas Twilight meet. Today was highlighted by Nick Williams new record in the hammer throw and Travis Roberts' p.r. and first-place collegiate and third-place overall finish in the 1500."
