Sophomore Omar Wright set a Cayman Islands national record in the high jump and just missed a Rice school record as he cleared 2.16 meters/7-1 to win at the RunSport/Rice Twilight meet at the Rice Track and Soccer Stadium. Wright had three attempts at 2.20/7-2.5, which would have set a school record.

The Owls notched season-bests in the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay, with footballer Gary Anderson anchoring the sprint group to a 41.58 second-place finish and Pablo Solares turning in a 47.6 anchor on the long relay as Rice clocked 3:13.58 to take second. Solares earlier took second in the 800 at 1:50.33.

Miller ran lead-off on the 4x400 and second leg on the 4x100. Eric Spear, who ran lead-off on the 4x100 and second on the 4x400, was also fifth in the 400 hurdles at 54.37.
