Rice's men's track team picked up several event wins to highlight a strong performance at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight. Alex Zinchenko picked up two event wins in the shot put and discus.
"Overall, it was really good," said Rice Head Coach Jon Warren. "I was impressed with our sprinters and with our field event people. They got it together, and did what they had to do this week."
Zinchenko set a season-best with a 16.88 m throw in the shot put to win the event, then threw 51.19 m in the discus to pick up another win.
Chris Pillow won the pole vault, continuing his strong season with a clearance of 5.05 m.
Rice finished 1-2-3 in the steeplechase, led by Travis Roberts at 9:21.44. Wyatt Doop and Will Firth were the next collegians to finish at 9:43.13 and 9:53.04, respectively.
Kyle Denny set a season-best running 49.57 in the 400 m.
In the jumps, Chris Sanders had a season-best long jump of 7.03 m to finish as the third collegian, and Tyler Weist matched his season-best with a jump of 2.00 m to finish third in the high jump.
