Austin, Texas - At the Texas Twilight, the Rice Owls posted solid performances across the board at Myers Stadium.
Jason Colwick, owner of the nation's number one mark this season, went over 18 feet again with a winning effort of 5.50m/18-0.5.
Senior Simon Bucknell, running in the 1500m fast section, finished third with a NCAA qualifying time of 3:47.47. That time was Bucknell's fastest on the year. Michael Trejo and Brett Olson placed ninth (3:59.77) and 10th (4:00.09) respectively.
Jack Spinks placed third in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m/6-6.75.
Connor Hayes was 14th in the 400m with his season-best time of 49.79.
Freshman Clayton Chaney, in the 110m hurdles, placed fifth with Rice's season-best time of 14.80. In the 100m dash, John Welch was 11th with a time of 10.82, his school fastest time of the outdoor season, while Chris Douglas was 17th with his fastest time of the season at 11.01. Chaney also was 10th in the javelin (48.65m/159-7).
James llamas was ninth in the 1500m with time of 4:09.54. That is the second-fastest time by a Rice Owl this season.
Competing at the LSU Outdoor Combined in the decathlon, Rice's Philip Adam placed second with 6,979 points. Kansas State's Mantas Silkauskas was first with 7,414 points. Adam was first in the shot put and in the pole vault events.
