Rice Men's Track & Field Post Season-Best Marks at UTEP Invitational

UTEP Invitational Results

El Paso, Texas - Rice head coach Jon Warren's Owls made improvements to their marks and times at the UTEP Invitational on Saturday held at Kidd Field.

For starters, Ikechi Nnamani ran his first 100m of the season and posted a time of 11.42, while Jack Spinks improved his 100m time to 11.74. In the 400m, Jacob Owolabi placed eighth with a season-fast 48.25 and Dan Sloat placed second in the 800m at 1:53.22.

In the 110m hurdles, Connor Hayes finished sixth with a team season-best 14.87, while Lee Johnson was seventh (15.36). The Owls placed three in the top five in the 400m hurdles. Finishing second with a season-fast time of 52.46 was Collin Shurbet. Johnson was third (53.78), while Hayes was fifth (54.46).

The Owl pole vaulters, Ben Timmer and Garrett Stafford each posted season-best marks. Timmer was fifth with a team season-high 4.66m/15-3.5, while Stafford placed sixth at 4.51m/14-9.5. Triple jumper Ugo Nduaguba placed second with a season-best mark of 15.42m/50-7.25.

The Owls' 4x100m relay team of Donte Moore, Hayes, Shurbet, and Nnamani ran sixth with a season-fast time of 42.49.

In the shot put, Alex Zinchenko was first (16.64m/54-7.25), while Will Meyers followed in second (14.87m/48-9.5). Meyers was also seventh in the hammer with a toss of 45.33m/148-9.

 

 

The Owls host the J.Fred Duckett next Saturday, April 23 at Holloway Field/Ley Track.
