WALNUT, Calif. - Rice sophomore multi-athlete Scott Filip registered 7608 points in the decathlon at the 57th annual Mt. SAC Relays, finishing third overall and moving into third place nationally (tops amongst all C-USA athletes).
Filip, from Bloomingdale, Illinois, set a PR with the 7608 points and was the top collegiate finisher. Filip entered Thursday tied for first in the event after earning 4211 points on Wednesday. Filip placed in the top four in four of five events Wednesday, including a victory in the 100m dash (10.66) in which he earned 938 points alone. Filip also placed third in each of the high jump (6-06.75) and long jump (24-06.50).
Filip had two top-10 finishes on Thursday, highlighted by a fifth-place result in the pole vault (15-01.00). Only Toronto's James Turner (1st-7773 points) and Nike's Curtis Beach (7687 points).
