Owls Compete at Texas Relays and the Tiger Relays

Austin, Texas - The Rice men's track and field team competed Saturday at the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays held at Mike A. Myers Stadium as well as at Trinity University's Tiger Relays in San Antonio.

In Austin, Alex Zinchenko finished ninth in the shot put with a mark of 16.27m/53-4.50. Also, Ugo Nduaguba with a mark of 14.85m/48-8.75 placed 10th in the triple jump b section, while in the long jump b section Justin Gross was 15th (6.75m/22-01.75).

James llamas ran 12th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:46.48.

At the Tiger Relays, hurdler Lee Johnson won the 110m hurdles, while placing second in the 400m hurdles. Johnson's winning time was a season-best 14.95, which ranks eighth in C-USA. In the 400m, he was clocked at 55.89.

In the 1500m, Travis Roberts and Wyatt Doop posted top five finishes. Roberts came in third with a time of 4:01.82, while Doop was fifth (4:03.71).

Jack Spinks placed second in the javelin with a mark of 46.26m/151-09.
