NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Rice freshman distance runner William Roberts placed third in his first-ever collegiate 800m outdoor run Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Skechers Carl Knight Invitational.
Roberts, from Sanderson, Texas, ran the 800m in a time of 1:53.73, just seconds short of Alex Weinheimer's season-best time of 1:51.93 last week at the Victor Lopez. On Saturday Weinheimer placed fourth in the same event with a mark of 1:54.35.
Rice also ran the 4x100 for the first time this season, placing seventh after clocking a 43.12. The foursome was made up of Will Beasley, Berk Norman, Filip Drozdowski and Santana Rosario.
Rice placed sixth as a team with 46 points. The Owls will send split squads next Saturday, April 12 to both the Texas Invite and the UTEP Invite.
