Trejo Wins 1500m at SFA Alumni Invitational

Nacogdoches, Texas - Michael Trejo won the 1500m and several Owls posted top five finishes with personal bests at the SFA Alumni Invitational held Saturday at at Fletcher Garner Track.

Trejo won the 1500m with a personal best time of 3:54.05, while in the 800m Alex Weinheimer had a personal best time of 1:51.53 in placing second. Dan Sloat was third in the 800m (1:52.96). In the 400m, Jacob Owolabi was third with a time of 48.36. James llamas finished second in the 5000m with a time of 15:25.89.

In the 110m hurdles, Connor Hayes posted a personal best time of 14.92 to place fourth. Hayes also was second in the 400m hurdles at 53.40. Lee Johnson was third in the 400m hurdles with a season-best 53.48, while Collin Shurbet was fourth also with a season-best time(53.85). Wyatt Doop finished third in the 3000m steeplechase 9:36.83.

Ikechi Nnamani placed third in the high jump (2.00m/6-6.75), while Tyler Wiest and Philip Adama followed in fourth and fifth respectively with the same mark as Nnamani's. In the pole vault, Garrett Stafford was fifth at 4.30m/14-1.25. Ugo Nduaguba placed third in the long jump (6.80m/22-3.75), while Ben Pressley was fifth (6.77m/22-2.5).

In the throws, Alex Zinchenko finished fifth in the shot put (16.98m/55-8.5) and fifth in the discus (45.63m/149-8). Jack Spinks was fourth in the javelin (53.06m/174-1).

The Owls are in action next weekend when they compete at the Texas Relays April 6-9, 2011, in Austin, Texas.
