Owls at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays

Rice's Philip Adam placed eighth in the decathlon at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. The junior from Santa Maria, Calif., posted a team season-best 7,027 points. Adam also placed eighth a year ago at this event with his personal-best of 7,157 points.

In the section b of the men's pole vault, Chris Kato also placed eighth with a personal-best mark of 4.90m/16-0.75. After fouling on his first two attempts, Kato then cleared it on his third attempt. He then was unable to clear 5.05m/16-6.75.

Junior John Welch posted a school-best time of 11.02 in the 100m prelim, just beating Chris Douglas' 11.03 set at the TSU Relays.

The Rice quartet of Collin Shurbet, Clayton Chaney, Connor Hayes, and Dan Sloat posted the team's fastest time this season in the 4x400m relay prelim. The squad circled the track in 3:18.92.

In section b of the shot put, Clay Baker finished seventh with a mark of 15.77m/51-9.00, while Will Meyers placed 10th (15.63m/51-3.50).
