HOUSTON, Texas - The Rice Owls men's track and field team closed out the final day of the Victor Lopez Classic by placing six in the top three Saturday.

Junior Ben Pressley was responsible for two of the top three finishes, placing second in the long jump (7.25m) and third in the 110m hurdles (15.28), a PR. Redshirt freshman Filip Drozdowski set a PR in the 110m hurdles en route to a first place finish in front of Pressley, recording a time of 14.51.

The Owls also got second place finishes from Alex Weinheimer (800m run, 1:51.93), Vitaliy Bilenko (pole vault, 4.80m) and Erik Maher (javelin, 53.39m).

As a team Rice was defeated by HBU, 75-70. 

Rice will next turn their eyes towards next weekend when they travel to Nacogdoches to compete in the SFA Invite.
